Montverde Academy (FL) vs. Link Academy (MO)

Montverde and Link played at T-Mobile arena the night before the NBA In-Season Tournament championship game. Texas commit and Link guard Tre Johnson shined on one of the biggest stages, scoring 25 points and knocking down 6 of 8 threes. 5-star Derik Queen of Montverde had a huge game scoring 20 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. His free throw shooting in the 4th quarter sealed the deal for a 12-point Montverde victory in response to Link’s late comeback attempt. Baylor commit Rob Wright III scored 16 points and had 6 assists. Duke commit Cooper Flagg had 15 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals. Indiana commit Liam McNeeley had 14 points.

AZ Compass Prep (AZ) vs. IMG Academy (FL)

AZ Compass upset the No. 7 ranked team in IMG Academy out at the Vegas Nike event with a 17-pt win. The Dragons from Arizona played big, doing a ton of damage inside, scoring 50 points in the paint. 4-star Oregon commit Vyctorius Miller got to his spots and led the way with 21 points and 5 rebounds, Luke Bamgboye looked impressive being an interior force on each end to finish with 6 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks, and Sammie Yeanay finished with 13 points and 6 rebounds.

Veritas Academy (CA) vs. Orangeville Prep (CAN)

This exciting matchup had 17 lead changes and ended with Veritas Prep getting to the line in the 4th quarter to seal it. Despite shooting 38% from the field and 16.7% from three, Veritas was effective in forcing turnovers as Orangeville finished with 18. Zion Paleo and Kuai Alier Deng both led the way for Veritas with 14 points and 3 steals each.

Montverde Academy (FL) vs. AZ Compass Prep (AZ)

5-star Georgia commit Asa Newell was a problem from the start of this one as he propelled Montverde to a 17-point lead at the half with 12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 blocks. AZ Compass would hold the nation’s top team to 2-12 shooting in the 3rd quarter and even cut the lead to 6 in the 4th thanks to some crafty plays by top-25 junior Jeremiah Fears who finished with 13 points and 5 rebounds and back-to-back and-ones by Sammie Yeanay who had 12 points and 9 rebounds. Montverde would respond late, moving fast up the court for some inside baskets to close it. Newell finished with 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Cooper Flagg had 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks, and Derik Queen had 12 points and 7 rebounds.

Strictly BBall Player of Week

Christian Anderson - 25 PPG, 4 APG

Anderson had a big week for Oak Hill Academy, with his best performance coming in an EYBL Scholastic game against Legacy Early College where he scored 34 points (13-17 FG and 7-9 from three). Anderson couldn’t miss against Legacy, showing how he’s one of the best shooters in the country. The Michigan commit is currently the second-highest leading scorer in EYBL Scholastic with 19.3 PPG. He’ll continue to be a key piece for an Oak Hill squad that has a lot of notable players and can make some loud noise nationally.
